Japanese Pro Surfer, Masatoshi Ohno rides the Go Fish.

A few weekends ago I just enjoying a coffee on my veranda and could hear laughter coming from the creek that surrounds our property, Next thing I know my dad, Bruce, drives up the hill with five Japanese in the back of his ute. armed with cameras, smiles and shukas, the boys came up to me and started asking me questions. Stunned, I looked to my dad and asked what is happening. It turns out they were from some Japanese sport channel and they were filming Masatoshio Ohno, A surfer competing in the Quicksilver Pro on the Gold Coast and they came down the coast to spend some time in the hills, But as soon as the group saw our homemade boards in the shed, we loaded up the ute and made a B-line for the beach, cameras and all. After I took some quick snaps, We spent the rest of the morning in the line-up shearing the swell. It was great to see my board being enjoyed by someone competing in the WCT.

Went looking for logs in New Zealand the other week and sure enough, I found em.

The exhibition

The first time I saw this 1960's Suffolk Park home I instantly felt envy. The afternoon light warmed the white walls and timber floors in which the several artiest would soon hang their pieces. People smiled and greeted me as I entered and a blond girl handed me a Stone & Wood. Her name was Kat, Katherine Elizabeth Mary Charles to be exact. She stood at about 5.4 and sported an extra large singlet over her bathers. Her hair had been bleached by the sun and a bronze tan shined across her skin as if she had been enjoying the fruits of summer by the hand full. She looked tired, but excited and I dont blame her, after weeks of organising she was about to host her first exhibition.

My place was positioned underneath the window leaving me with no hanging space for my hand made timber framed photography but conveniently under the air-con, which later that barmy summer evening helped to bring in the crowds.

A seriously great night was had by all.

Casey's jewelry box

Many moons ago, I thought I'd surprise my girlfriend, Casey, with a hand made jewelry box. This solid local Silky Oak and Western Australian Jarrah jewelry box is simple in design, yet easy to use. The Pine lift-out tray is fits in between lid and a compartment below and all her most precious bits n' bobs fits perfectly fits below.

Geoff from Bangalow upholstory did an amazing job re-covering the foam The satin two-pac laguire finishes off the chairs very nicely. I couldn't be more happy with the way these TV chairs turned out.

American Oak Sideboard.

Inspired by the streets of Brunswick Heads, I built this American Oak sideboard with the intentions of keeping my photographs within it. However nowadays, it has proven to be more and more useful. The dimensions allow me use it through out my daily routine and the extra space gained with the recycled turned legs underneath adds for the perfect informal shoe compartment.

Picture Frames

Another passion of mine is photography. I recently got back a roll of black & white film and wanted these photographs to be framed. So, I went and talked to my old friend Micheal at Billinudgel Picture Framing and asked if he could cut me some white matt board to boarder the photographs, then I went and saw the boys at Ocean Shores Glass and they kindly gave me the glass. And finally, using the materials at hand, I sorted through the off cuts in the shed and found enough New-ginnie Rosewood and hey-presto! Got me some new frames.

In the making, TV chairs.

I came across these TV chairs from the early 70's and fell in love with the simplicity of the design.

I'm currently waiting for the freshly applied two pac lacquer to dry and the'll be ready for Geoff at Bangalow Upholstery to give them their final touches.

Tazzie oak house fit-out, South Golden Beach.

My father, bruce and I, only started this job a month or two before he had planned a surfing trip to Samarta with some of his mates. Luckily, we got most of the work built and installed before he left but unfortunately I had to finish off the fit-out while he was trimming down the line somewhere in Indonesia.

This beautiful house was designed by architect Justin Twohill and built by Simon Bristol of Habitat Construction is a pleasure to be in and like always, we were happy to work along side creative people such as the team and the owners.
